10 Of The Best Kid’s Movies For A Summer Movie Night

Summer is here, and you know what that means? Endless amounts of movie nights! Bring on the popcorn, slushies, candy, and blankets.

Finding the right kid’s movie can be challenging especially since everyone has different tastes. So, we suggest coming up with some sort of theme to get the kids pumped and ready for the movie. You could even call it “Movie night in Hawaii.” Transport your kids to the beach in your own living room or set up a little tropical movie area in the backyard and use beach towels instead of blankets for the kids to curl up in.

‘Luca’

This movie will definitely have you craving a summer trip to Italy!

‘Brave’

Merida is a courageous, smart, and beautiful daughter of Scottish King Fergus and Queen Elinor. Merida wants to carve out her own life and become the greatest archer of all time. She must unlock her bravery and help stop the kingdom from being under attack before it’s too late. This movie will have your kids wanting to fight all of the imaginary goons and dragons! It also teaches a great lesson about being brave and conquering your fears. 

‘Lilo & Stitch’ 

Lilo is a 6-year old girl who adopts a “dog” from her local pound in Hawaii. She soon finds out that her “dog” is a dangerous scientific experiment that has taken refuge on Earth. The two characters immediately hit it off, creating a friendship/family bond. This movie showcases the importance of not leaving anyone behind and also how important family is. 

‘Finding Dory’

This movie stars the familiar face “Dory” from the hit movie “Finding Nemo.” This movie is all about adventures, meeting new friends, and her backstory. You will surely want to take a deep dive into the ocean after watching this movie! 

‘Moana’

Moana is the daughter of the chief of her tribe. She goes on a journey to help her tribe and battles ocean and island creatures from all around. She learns the importance of persistence and faith. Grab your tissues, because this movie has such a powerful yet beautiful ending. 

‘UP’

Up is such a heartfelt kind of movie, it centers around an elderly man named Carl and a young boy-scout named Russell. Russell wants to help Carl live out his dream of traveling to South America, so he sparks up an idea to tie thousands of balloons to Carl’s home. Make sure you are prepared for your kids to want to go around and tie balloons to everything! 

RIO

This is a story about Blu, a domesticated male Spix’s Macaw who is taken to Rio de Janeiro to mate with a free-spirited female Spix’s Macaw, the two must then go on a journey to escape from being smuggled.  This comedy will not only make you laugh but teach you so much about Rio and its culture. 

The Croods

A caveman family embarks on a journey after their cave gets destroyed. This movie will showcase all of the ups and downs families go through on a day-to-day basis. 

The Little Mermaid

This musical tells the story of a mermaid princess named Ariel, who wants to become human to be with the love of her life. She then makes a deal with the underwater witch, Ursula. Guarantee, your kids will be singing all of the tunes before the film is even over.

Camp Rock

This movie is about a young singer who goes to her first music summer camp. She discovers new friends, adventures, romance, and her voice. Your kids will be begging you to attend a camp after this movie!
