10 Tips To Become A More Productive Person

We all want to be more productive, and we all want to get more things done in the day. But you can’t expect to be more productive overnight. Cultivating habits take years of conscious and subconscious work, and they won’t immediately change. Small adjustments in your life can lead to more lasting changes, even if they take more time. But with practice, dedication, hard work, and these ten tips, you can accomplish all of your goals and be way more productive.

Make a to-do list

While this seems obvious, a to-do list is an essential step to being more productive. Make sure that you do not overwhelm yourself on your to-do list. Many to-do lists often fail because they’re too complicated or the tasks are unequal. While some tasks take very little time, some tasks are much larger and take more time, creating an unbalance which can lead to procrastination. When you do make your to-do list, make sure you prioritize the necessary tasks and not become distracted.

Group your tasks

Grouping your tasks is a great way to get a lot of your work done when you are in a great mindset. For example, send all of your emails at the same time or put all of your writing assignments together. Some groups can be done for more extended periods, while others can’t. For example, emails are a simple task that doesn’t take too much brainpower, but writing assignments are way more involved. So make sure that you group your tasks and delegate an appropriate amount of time for each group.

Your physical environment has a significant impact on your work and productivity. Your workspace is one of the things that you can control. A clean work area can help you be more productive, and you don’t have to waste time hunting trying to find something. Also, it can help you find more clarity and focus on your tasks.

Track your time to find patterns

Tracking your time can help you understand your work habits and what time of day you are the most productive. Try monitoring your time for a week or two, and by then you should be able to see where you spend your time and have a better estimate of the time needed to complete a particular task. And you can find what times of the day don’t work for you. I do not do my best work in the morning and am way more productive in the night. By finding what and when you are most productive can help you immensely.

Block the negativity

If there is someone in your life, whether you know them personally or not, who is extremely harmful and toxic to you, get them out! Block their number, unfollow them on social media, and move on. While it may not be this easy, you do not need anyone in your life telling you that you aren’t capable of doing and being your best. You deserve amazing people supporting you on your journey!

Don’t multitask

Our brains go a million miles an hour, and we want to do so much in a limited amount of time. From watching Netflix, making lunch, and building our own business all at the same time, it can seem overwhelming and can lead you to procrastinate on everything. This kind of thinking only sets you up for failure, again and again, so focus on one thing at a time, and then you can move on to your next task.

Brain Dump

For most of us, our brains are running a mile a minute, and that can make us distracted. Having thoughts float around like “I have to take out the trash. I have to email her back. I have to call him…” it can seem overwhelming and never-ending. Instead of constantly having that list run through your head, write it down. Have a notebook or a Google Doc specifically for your thoughts, which can allow you to spend all of your attention at the task at hand.

Ask for help

If you’re prideful like me, you don’t like to ask for advice on things you feel like you can do on your own. Unfortunately, this means that I take too long on things that I don’t have time for. Instead, ask for help. This can help you make relationships with your colleagues and save you lots of time in the long run.

Visualize your results

Speak your dreams into existence. Visualizing your aspirations is one of the most important ways for you to stay motivated and focused on your goals, so take some time to reflect and see what exactly you want to achieve, so you know exactly what you are working so hard towards.

I know it can be easy to push through and stay up one more hour or two to get a task done, but sleep is so important. It may be cliché, but rest is a significant factor in how productive you are for the next days. If you don’t get enough sleep one day, you may be tired for the next couple of days, which is seriously detrimental to your productivity. So try to make sleep a priority!
