Have you ever had one of those long nights, where you wake up with absolutely zero energy? Well, vitamin B12 injections may be the way to go. While I’m certainly no expert or qualified to offer medical advice, I have personally experienced the “energy” boost after receiving this injection. In anticipation of a long weekend celebrating a friend’s birthday, I got a B12 injection at a medspa before a long night out. Miraculously, the next day, I woke up feeling refreshed and fully rested. Of course, I can’t 100 percent say that the B12 injection was responsible, but it worked for me.
What is B12? Our bodies need to have a daily intake of different vitamins to function properly. B12 is one of those essential vitamins. Every cell in the body utilizes B12! It is found in foods such as meat, fish, and dairy products. A deficiency in B12 can result in tiredness, weakness, pale skin, anemia, and even nerve damage. Generally, if you’re under 50, you can get adequate amounts of B12 from your diet, but vegans, vegetarians, and some people with chronic illnesses can be severely deprived. And while the jury is still out on the benefits to those of us who don’t actually have a B12 deficiency, there is some evidence that we all can get real benefits from B12 injections. If you’ve been considering trying a B12 injection, here are a few reasons that got me to take the next step.
Ditch the slow-acting vitamins: B12 injections work immediately to provide a boost of energy. People who have fast-paced lifestyles such as athletes, firefighters, singers, and dancers like the convenience and immediate effect of B12 injections. Injections are also beneficial for people who cannot absorb oral vitamins, and studies have shown that people with anemia absorb the B12 injections better than the pill supplements.
Boosts your immune system: If you didn’t know, now you do! The immune system is like the Iron Man of your body and we are here for it! Going through a pandemic has educated us all on the importance of a strong immune system. B12 injections may contribute to strengthening the immune system, which then protects our body from nasty viruses and other illnesses.
Improves your metabolism: This is particularly beneficial for people who want to lose weight. When you have a slow metabolism, that often leads to weight gain. B12 converts the fats and proteins into energy, thereby increasing your metabolism which results in your body burning calories more effectively. So, if you are experiencing little to no results in weight loss when you work out and or diet, getting regular B12 injections may help you reach that weight loss goal!
Fights Fatigue: If you are the type to experience fatigue on a regular basis, whether during your menstrual cycle or just in general, a B12 injection can help lessen or get rid of the fatigue. (Most of the common symptoms of B12 deficiency is extreme fatigue, so that also could be a factor as to why you may be experiencing fatigue as well.)
Helps improve sleep patterns: Tryptophan is an a-amino acid that our body produces naturally to help us fall asleep. B12 is a major factor in the tryptophan process, so the injections can help improve your restless nights.
Reduces hair loss: If you struggle with hair loss, or if your family has that genetic gene. B12 can actually be used in the prevention of hair loss. (If you have B12 deficiency the cells in your body are not being metabolized efficiently, which again will lead to hair loss.)
So bottom line, B12 injections can be beneficial, and if they make you feel better go for it!
