Christmas is just around the corner and it’s time to get ready for the festivities. When we think about decorating for Christmas, we often focus on the exterior of our homes and forget about the interior. If you want your home to feel cozy and festive, your table can be a great place to start. Here are some easy tips to help create a beautiful table setting perfect for Christmas dinner with friends and family this year!
Choose your color palette
The colors you choose are the first thing people see when they walk into your home. Consider your color palette for your table setting carefully.
When planning your Christmas table, you can create a traditional feel with reds, greens, and golds or give it more of a modern feel with black, white, and silver. If you’re hosting a lot of guests this year, consider decorating the table with one large centerpiece instead of smaller ones. This will create more of an impact for those who are walking into the room.
Get your tree or centerpiece ready
Start with one of the most important elements- your centerpiece. You can deck it out with Christmas ornaments and lights, or use a few fresh evergreens on top of a carved wooden base.
Once your centerpiece is set, you’re ready to start setting the table. Choose an assortment of dishes, glasses, and silverware that will be festive for the holiday season.
Add some more traditional touches like a tree skirt or tree plate to help warm up the space. And don’t forget about place cards and placemats!
Your table setting will feel complete with a beautiful runner and centerpieces on each place setting for guests to enjoy as they dine. Be sure to include some warm lighting over the table for extra ambiance too!
Decorate with wreaths and lights
Start by adding a wreath and lights to the front door. This will invite your guests into your home with a warm and welcoming feeling that signifies Christmas.
You can also add a wreath to the top of your table for an extra festive touch. I like to use fresh evergreens, pinecones, and other natural decorations such as greenery and pine cones. It’s important to keep in mind that any live or natural elements you add should be kept away from candles to avoid fire hazards!
Some people prefer to use artificial decorating options such as garland, ribbon, or bows because they are flame-retardant.
Adding these touches can help improve the mood of your decorating without too much effort!
Add in some greenery for texture
Adding some greens to your table setting is an easy way to add texture and life to your table. You can use potted flowering plants, like orchids, or fresh evergreens like fir branches, or even grab a faux garland like this one as I’ve used to decorate this year.
If you’re looking for something more subtle, try leaves instead of branches. Sprinkle them around the edge of the table or use them as a runner down the middle.
